Medicaid and Medicare patients should not go there. Frames are over 600.00 and they are very racist.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Dr. Junkin is racist.
  • - She pressures buying expensive frames.
  • - Billing is a mess and staff can't repair frames or speak to Hispanic customers.

*** is very racist. She has a part in ownership and gets mad when you don't buy those high ass frames.

If their is a problem with the prescription, she blames the problem on you.

It is a mess in the billing, the two women do not know how to repair the frames nor even speak to Hispanic or blacks. I will never go there again.

User's recommendation: Do not go there. They are overly priced for people with certain incomes.

Waste of money

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - The insurance is not worthwhile.
  • - Cheaper options exist: two boxes of contacts for $95; Contacts Direct costs 2.5x after discount.

They are not good at all, there's no point in paying for this insurance, if you can even call it that. I can buy two boxes of contacts on a cheaper website for $95, or use Contacts Direct that charges 2.5 times as much after a discount.

It still is the same price after using the $140 allowance.

Pointless. I'm just getting rid of and saving the $5 on my paycheck.

Cons:
  • Whatever they cover is jacked up by 3 times do it doesnt matter

Preferred solution: Apology

Can Not use these Glasses

EyeMed Vision Care - Can Not use these Glasses
EyeMed Vision Care - Can Not use these Glasses - Image 2

I'm not a happy customer. I got a pair of glasses from my insurance and unfortunately, I'm not able to use them as I can't see through them.

They are poorly made. I'm so disappointed.

Preferred solution: . The lens are way too thick I can’t even see through them , I would like a replacement done in which the lens are smoothed out and fixed .

Mediocre Service, Terrible Coverage, Worse Website

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Out-of-network claim confirmed, but no record.
  • - Support told me to re-submit.
  • - Site errors and a security check blocked submissions; not recommended.

I tried to submit a claim for an out-of-network appointment, and at first, it seemed like it had worked. I received the confirmation and everything, and it appeared like it had gone through.

Then, weeks later, I started to wonder why I hadn't gotten my reimbursement yet. I checked my account only to find that there was no record of my claim. I called their customer support line to ask for help with submitting my form, only for them to instruct me to do exactly what I did the first time. I attempted to submit my claim again and was met with a site error.

I returned later to try again and received a 'Your receipt failed our security check - please delete and try re-uploading' message.

Their site and services make getting help and service way harder than it should be. If you're in the market for an insurer, do not consider this joke of a provider.

Pros:
  • Reimbursement for out-of-network claims
Cons:
  • Difficult to submit claims
  • Broken website
  • Consistently frustrating experience

Preferred solution: I'm currently looking for a new insurer.

AWFUL!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Automated help line is hard to use and rarely understands.
  • - Card states Cigna Vision; EyeMed contact details aren't on it.

You absolutely will NEVER be able to speak to a human. The automated "help" line is a joke unless you have very basic questions.

Additionally, the automated line has trouble understanding what you are saying. English is my first language, I speak clearly and slowly, and have never had an issue with automated lines not being able to understand me. Simple "please say yes or no" ... I say "yes" and she responds "I'm sorry, I wasn't able to understand you".

I spent 10 minutes trying to get an answer regarding a specific situation with my husband's glasses and I literally got nowhere. By the way, our iinsurance is through Cigna Vision, but it says "serviced through Eye Med" in small print on the card.

Why would't Cigna put the customer number and website for EyeMed on the card if that's who we are supposed to contact for customer service?? Things are really going down the toilet these days.

User's recommendation: Literally no customer service except for basic questions. Stay away unless you enjoy being frustrated and are OK with a company that has an annoying automated help line that doesn't provide much help and won't give you a live person. Ever.

Worthless Benefit ..

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Paying cash is cheaper than using the benefit.
  • - First visit cost $600; sunglasses don't work.
  • - Benefit can be used after a year; Eyemed prices up.

And I'm finding it would be cheaper to pay cash rather than use this first time I tried to use it ..Ended up with a $600 bill and a pair of sunglasses that don't work .. (cannot wear them) .. Now I'm trying again ..you have to wait a year to use your "Benefit" again ...And I'm finding it would be cheaper to pay cash and not use this crap at all ...They Mark up the Prices on "Eyemed Approved" products so much it makes it worse than worthless ...total SCAM ..

Loss:
$600
Cons:
  • Scam is they mark up prices to screw you

Preferred solution: make it something people can really use ...NOT a SCAM

User's recommendation: Avoid Eyemed at all costs

Horrible website and claims submission process

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - OON claim submission went well; Google helped navigate.
  • - I received no reply and was told there was an error on a date, and the site is difficult.

My first electronic submission for an OON claim went fairly well (I used google to help me navigate their network). However I heard nothing back from them and contacted customer service only to be told I had an error on one of my dates! Never wouldve known this; plus website to submit is VERY DIFFICULT!

User's recommendation: Do not chose them as a network!

Customer Service does not know their product

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Support lacked product knowledge.
  • - I had to push for information on out-of-network benefits and Ortho-K lenses.
  • - Persistence is needed on calls.

Customer service does not know their own product. I had to teach them their own job and keep pushing for them to actually look up the info.

In particular, we were discussing out of network benefits and orthoK lenses. You must keep pushing when you talk to them on the phone otherwise you'll get nowhere.

Preferred solution: the contacts covered as promised

User's recommendation: You must push for answers when you call!

Store-American Best sw college road Ocala Florida-3/7/2024-received glasses. After 2 weeks-went back for an adjustment. Reason-severe eye strain.

Went back per appt-3/4/3024-prescription for left lense(very blurred vision. Mr Salazar said prescription correct. Nothing could be done. Advised him that I could see better with my old glasses(over 2 years old)-his comment was "because
You are use to wearing them.

He mentioned cataracts in my left eye(not significant enough for surgery yet. This was true when i was prescribed the old glasses i told him. He was adamant that nothing could be done as the prescription was correct.

At the initial exam he rushed me through as if he had a date. My appt was near the lunch hour.
My vision plan is through Humana ppo.

Preferred solution: I would like the prescription for my glasses to be redone. My vision should not be better with glasses that are over 2 years old as compared to glasses just over 4 weeks old!

Bad customer service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Claims take long to resolve; about 45 minutes on a call with follow-ups.
  • - Automated system requires saying and spelling your name, and still fails.

If you have an issue with a claim be prepared to spend a long time trying to sort it out - 45 mins on the phone multiplied by 3/4 follow up calls. This has been my consistent experience with 8 or so years being with them.

They also have the worst automated calling system, having to say and spell your name to a computer 5 times and it still wont get it. Very frustrating.

User's recommendation: Avoid

Waste of Money

AI Highlights
  • - Used an EyeMed preferred provider for a routine exam.
  • - EyeMed won't cover the routine exam due to a medical condition.
  • - The exam found early cataracts.

I went to an EyeMed preferred provider to get a routine exam. During the exam, they discovered that I am in the beginning stages of cataracts.

BECAUSE they discovered a "medical condition," EyeMed will not cover the cost of the ROUTINE exam. What is the purpose of an exam if not to check the health of your eyes? TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY. I get zero benefit for my monthly premium.

Garbage excuse.

An EXAM is an EXAM. The findings are irrelevant.
